Up in Smoke Welding Apparel launched in 2014 to provide safe and stylish welding apparel to welders. The first product was the Contego welding hoodie – designed to keep welders safe and warm in the cool Canadian climate. They were also designed for both left and right hand welders – a feature making this product unique among any other welding or work wear gear in the industry. Following the success of the Contego, the Testudo – a welding jacket – was launched to offer welders the same protection but uses lighter materials making it perfected for warmer climate conditions. From there, the Thorax and Testudo 2.0 models were designed and launched to offer welders more options that meet their unique needs including FR and non-FR options. Recognizing that the welding industry is potentially narrow, the Kikko work pant was designed and added to the Up in Smoke Welding Apparel product line to diversify our offerings beyond welding. The Kikko pant can be worn by tradesmen, outdoor enthusiasts, hunters and much more. Leveraging federal and provincial grants, the Up in Smoke Welding Apparel line has had the opportunity to test and trial a number of products to ensure that they meet the highest safety and durability standards. The product line also integrates design innovations used by the military, fire departments, and more to further enhance our offerings.
