Founded in 1909 in Monterrey, Mexico, Vitro, S.A.B. de C.V., is one of the world’s leading glass manufacturers, the largest in North America and the premier glass producer in Mexico. With subsidiaries throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia, Vitro produces, processes, distributes and markets a wide range of glass products that are part of daily life for millions of people across the globe. Throughout the Company’s history, Vitro has demonstrated a commitment to create industry-leading technologies through continuous research and development initiatives and investments. This fundamental, integrated focus on generating new products and technologies has produced a product portfolio that spans multiple industries, including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, automotive and commercial construction. The Company also is a supplier of raw materials, machinery and equipment for industrial use. Once unleashed, there was no putting Vitro back in the bottle. Since 1909 Mexico's #1 glassmaker has poured itself into two businesses operating in the Americas and Europe. The largest, its Glass Containers segment, produces glass and aluminum products for wine and beer, food and beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical manufacturers. A Flat Glass segment builds construction glass for exterior and interior finishing touches, as well as tempered glass, such as bulletproof shields, soundproof windows, and reflective sheets. Vitro also supplies automotive OEMs with windshields, dashboards, and bumpers. The company successfully implemented a concurso mercantil plan or voluntary reorganization in 2012.
