Founded in 1967, Waolani Judd Nazarene School (WJNS) is a ministry of Honolulu First Church of the Nazarene (HFNaz). Located at the original site in Nu'uanu Valley, the school first opened as a day care with just four students. Over the years the school has grown to include preschool threes to eight grade with a current enrollment of 230 students. The philosophy of WJNS is rooted in the Word of God with the belief that a child's academic, emotional, physical and spiritual needs are best met through Christian training and sound educational principles. WJNS supports the belief that education is a cooperative venture among students, parents and teachers; the more closely we work together, the more effective our efforts will be. The mission statement of the school is "Where faith and learning reflect the character of Christ." This mission statement is not only the driving force of the school program but also the glue that ties all the aspects of the school together. WJNS is accredited by Hawaii Association of Independent Schools (HAIS), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is a member of Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and hosts an average teacher: student ratio of 1:16. In 2017 Waoloani Judd Nazarene School was a recipient of Best of 2017 for Hawaii Elementary Schools.
