The Winnipeg Jets have a second wind beneath their wings. The National Hockey League team exists in Winnipeg again after the Atlanta Thrashers professional hockey team folded up its tent in Georgia and moved north to Canada following the 2011 season. Winnipeg Jets was the original name of the professional hockey team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba back when the city had a team in the WHA. The Jets also had an earlier stint in the NHL before the franchise moved to Phoenix, Arizona to become the Phoenix Coyotes . The Atlanta market proved difficult for the Thrashers and the league hopes the Canadian market will be more rewarding for the franchise as it begins life again in Canada under a familiar old name.
